The rabbit chase drill means one athlete, the rabbit, runs ahead of one or more athletes whose job it is to catch up with and pass the rabbit. Press the "animate both" button above to see an example of the rabbit drill.
I can name an athlete who, as a teenager, broke four minutes for 1500 meters. This athlete, as a teenager, worked with a rabbit, who paced the athlete over the first 800 meters during training runs. As an adult, the athlete raced the 1500 meters at one Summer Olympic Games and had a ten plus years career of international 1500 meters racing.
But when this athlete was about twenty years old, the athlete and rabbit parted ways, their young adult lives going in different directions. Without the rabbit, the athlete never achieved the gains the athlete was making during his teenage years.
In this case, a rabbit proved important. Unfortunately, life could not keep together athlete and rabbit.
The second half of a team out and back is a rabbit drill, proving the rabbit drill can be merged with other running training strategies to create workouts.
Rabbit can be used by family, friends, or co-workers at corporate functions, working together when one athlete runs and the others chase. This is not an invitation for bosses to invite their secretaries into the boss' office and chase the secretary around the office couch.
Rabbit is a running training strategy. Webpages on Xsmo.com presenting running training strategies do not always have specified distances to run.
Centuries ago, the City of Pisa, currently in Italy and most famous for a leaning tower, hired a mathematician named Giovanni to count the Pisa's rabbit population.
Giovanni noticed one pair of male and female rabbits would give birth to a second pair of male and female rabbit. One pair of parent rabbits plus one pair of children rabbits equals two pairs of rabbits.
Then, the first pair of male and female rabbits would give birth a another pair of male and female rabbits. One pair of parent rabbits plus two pairs of children rabbits equals three pairs of rabbits.
Then, the first pair of male and female rabbits would give birth to a third pair of male and female rabbits. Also, the first pair of children rabbits would become parents to a pair of male and female rabbits. Two pairs of parent rabbits plus three pairs of children rabbits equals five pairs of rabbits.
And so the sequence went counting male and female pairs of children and parent rabbits.
Today, the sequence does not mention rabbits but stupidly mentions such things as flower petals and gives credit for the sequence's discovery to such people as Leonardo Da Vinci. The sequence leaves out the name Pisa and is known by giovanni's last name, Fibonacci.
